Frame Consultants has played a central and sustained role in the planning, design, delivery, and supervision of integrated urban infrastructure for Tatu City, one of Kenya’s largest and most ambitious mixed-use developments. Our involvement spans multiple development phases and precincts, supporting the transformation of greenfield land into a fully serviced, master-planned city with industrial, commercial, residential, and logistics zones.
Across a series of interrelated consultancy and construction contracts, Frame Consultants delivered end-to-end engineering services covering roads, stormwater drainage, water supply and distribution, wastewater collection and conveyance, power infrastructure, street lighting, and ICT networks. This included trunk and precinct-level infrastructure works for key development areas such as Tatu Industrial Park Phases 1 and 2, Kijani precincts, Unity Blue, Kofinaf Road, and major city arterials and junction improvements.
- Our scope encompassed feasibility studies, detailed engineering designs, coordinated multidisciplinary drawings, tender documentation, tender administration, and full construction supervision and monitoring. Major works included the construction and upgrading of trunk roads (TC01, TC02, TC101, TC301) and associated junctions; stormwater drainage systems designed for long-term resilience; trunk and reticulation water distribution pipelines; wastewater trunk sewers, precinct collection networks, pumping stations, and force mains; as well as street lighting and electrical infrastructure.
- A key highlight of the assignment was the delivery of critical bulk and utility infrastructure to support industrial growth, including engineering design and supervision for a 66/11 kV electrical substation, associated civil, electrical, and mechanical works, and the integration of trunk utility networks across multiple precincts. Frame Consultants also undertook feasibility and detailed design services for a second water source and new intake trunk main, strengthening long-term water security for the city.
- The works required close coordination between multiple contractors, utility providers, and development stakeholders, with a strong emphasis on constructability, service continuity, safety, and phased commissioning to align with development roll-out schedules. Several of the projects have been successfully completed and are currently in the Defects Liability Period, reflecting sustained engagement through post-construction support.
- Through this long-term partnership, Frame Consultants has helped deliver a robust, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure backbone for Tatu City—supporting economic activity, attracting private investment, and setting a benchmark for integrated city infrastructure development in the region.
