FRAME Consultants provided comprehensive structural and civil engineering services for the multi-phase development of key institutional facilities within the Holy Family Minor Basilica precinct, a landmark religious and administrative complex in Nairobi’s central business district. Delivered across four distinct phases, the project involved the design and supervision of major buildings and supporting infrastructure within a constrained urban environment.
The scope of services included structural analysis and design of multi-storey reinforced concrete buildings, stormwater drainage systems, water supply and reticulation networks, sewerage reticulation and connections to the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC) trunk sewer, as well as associated civil works.
- Phase I and Phase II comprised the design of the Cardinal Otunga Plaza and the Cardinal Otunga Plaza Annex, both seven-storey structures incorporating sub-basement levels, subsurface parking, and full utility services. These buildings form the administrative and commercial core of the precinct and required careful integration with existing infrastructure and site constraints.
- Phase III involved the structural design and full construction supervision of a four-level basement parking silo serving the Archdiocesan Offices. The works included the design of ramps and driveways, access roads, stormwater drainage, sewerage reticulation, water supply systems, and the preparation of a Traffic Management Plan to ensure safe and efficient movement during and after construction.
- Phase IV comprised the structural analysis and design of a five-storey Priests’ Residence, together with associated water supply, sewerage connections, and stormwater drainage infrastructure, completing the integrated development of the Basilica precinct.
